Gold Reef City is a South African entertainment complex built on the site of the historic Crown Mines, a gold mine that operated from 1887 to 1971. Founded in 1987, the park features a theme park and museum recreating Johannesburg's 1880s gold rush era, offering visitors underground mine tours and gold pouring demonstrations. It was expanded in 2001 to include the Gold Reef City Casino and the Apartheid Museum, becoming a popular attraction blending historical exhibits with modern entertainment.
